Powder for the 32-40

Can someone give me another powder choice to use other than IMR 4227 for my 32-40 loads ? There is none to be found in America , there are a few people selling it on Gun Broker for about 35.00$/Lb. I will just load with BP 2ff before I pay this . A local supplier told me it could be several years before we see IMR 4227 again . Thanks

You might want to take a look on this forum. On the Reloading the Schuetzen Rifle forum page, at page top, in the Important Topics section, is a subject labeled Schuetzen Loads. There is a ton of good info in there. Hopefully, you can match loads that someone has had success with, to powder(s) that may be available to you.
Good luck and good shooting

There are indeed two Americas. Simply put, it is not the haves and have nots. The two Americans are in reality divided into those who do and those who don't.

Powder Valley has the best price I have seen when in stock. A couple on months ago I got some for about $175 shipped for 8 lbs. I had to check every morning for a month to find it in stock though

I was at a Cabela's store yesterday. They had 1lb cans on the shelf. I didn't look at the price.

Load the 2f, you will feel much better about yourself afterwards having done the right thing and shunned the white powder.

Absolutely. Might even want to give 3F a try as well. Swiss will shoot a bit faster and cleaner than Goex, and Olde Eynsford is worth trying. Feed your 32-40 whichever it likes the best. Do it like the ODGs did.

I've had good results with 4198 and with 2400.   I've had good luck with 4759 too but unless you have a stash its an investment wasted since it's being discontinued.   I've still got enough to last me a while yet.

I've seen 4227 on the shelves where I've been... Wonder what the issue is in your neck of the woods?

Good luck!

Best Regards,
John

There is no problem getting 4227 in most parts of the country. If you can't buy it at your local gun shop it is available on line. The real question is has any body know or even has a sniff of 4100 of Ramshot Enforcer?

We also have plenty 4227 in Canada , which is a good thing because it is hard to beat in any of my straight-wall or tapered cartridges. Even in large capacity and without buffer.
I have recently had good results with it in 32-20 , 25-20 ,32 spcl as well,Yes these are minimal (lazy) bottlenecks but should try it in more bottlenecks

Just what is going on with 4100 and Enforcer? Does anyone have the low down?

I spoke with Western Powder again about AA4100 and Enforcer a couple of weeks ago. Still no definite answer but it sounds like there should be some available in the future, but there will be limits on how much you can purchase at a time.

I'm supposed to get a call from them when it becomes available and will post that in a new thread. Until then I would keep checking the usual suppliers in case I don't get that call.
