How does one deal with this rare phenomenon?

Several of us had this problem at Butte this weekend.

Joe, do you need an erector lens?

Processing visual information is a complex task – it takes up a relatively large portion of the brain compared to other senses. This is because your brain performs several tasks to make images ‘easier’ to see. One, of course, is combining the two images, which is helped by the corpus callosum, the tiny part of your brain which joins the two big hemispheres. The other part is handled in the optic part of your brain itself, and part of its job is to make images right-side-up. It does this because your brain is so USED to seeing things upside-down that it eventually adjusts to it. After all, it’s a lot easier to flip the image over than it is to try and coordinate your hands and legs with an upside-down world! As a result, though, it is believed that for the first few days, babies see everything upside-down. This is because they have not become used to vision.

Looks like one of those golf driving ranges where you have teeing areas on both ends.  Looks like the two in the fore ground have a 100yd target, and the guys in the other house would have a  200yd shot.  That's the way to  conserve land! Grin

Yes, the family stays in the rubble stone house during matches. Has never been a problem in all the years I've been there.

Hey Joe,  how much, do you think, does shooting offhand from inside a shooting house differ, score wise, from shooting outdoors?    Grin

I know that as one of the guys who is center-of-gravity-challenged.  I can feel the cross winds at EG moving me and the rifle around, contributing to my shooter-induced angle of dispersion.  Sad   I'd think shooting out of a building would be a real advantage.

Definite advantage shooting from a house. I participate in a Winter match from the 3rd Sunday in November until the last Sunday in March. In April and May we send three teams to a League Match of three Saturday Matches that IS shot outdoors in the elements. Our team #1 is always competitive usually placing 2nd or 3rd. But our top shooters do not do as well as their Winter Match averages. There is an additional issue, many of us shoot Schuetzen Rifles all winter and the Match is NRA Match Rifle rules. Standard Rifle, Iron Sights, Flat Butt, Plain Trigger, No Palm Rest. Only exception is shooters over 60 can use a Telescope Sight. Still does not help. But it is still a good time and meeting shooters again that we have not seen or met in a year. Just my take on the issue. HTH Regards, FITZ. Cry

Addition, we shoot from a Shooting House with 7 Ports. The house is heated with a wood stove. There is a class for just about every type of Rifle you can shoot offhand including .22 Rimfire. All is at 200 yds offhand. Each position has two SR-C repair centers posted. Shooter may shoot as many sighters as needed and responsibility is to get 20 shots on the record target that is brought back to the shooting house for scoring. Excess hits you get the value of the lowest 20 shots, relay time is a loose 30 minutes. No re-entry per day. But you can often shoot the same Rifle in different classes based on equipment. The equipment classes are Telescope, Iron sights, Howes match (NRA Match Rifle), .40 Cal+, Schuetzen Rifle (ASSRA Rules) and .22 Rimfire. So it is possible with a little effort to shoot 6 different matches per day. The group is as much a social
bunch as a competitive group. Equipment and assistance getting zeroed is common. Just a great bunch of guy's.

When shooting from inside a warm building in cold winter, cold air is trying to come in while hot air is trying to go out. Right where you'r shooting.  I had several center called shots miss the target. Optical inversion? Maybe inversion is the wrong word. Not enough whiskey?
