Lyman Super target spot scope

Just a quick question, I recently purchased a second hand Lyman scope and I was wondering if there is anywhere I can get an owners manual or literature concerning what adjustments can be made to the scope and how to do them.
I'm not sure that it's important but the scope is 25X, if that matters at all.

I have this. It's a older publication and does list the 25X but, I also have a 25X and I can see no difference in the adjusting of the focus.

In Bob's last picture, don't confuse the Adjusting Sleeve Cap with the Lens Cover. The cap has to be loosen to make focus/parallax adjustments.

Id like to dig this back up as I am not fully familiar with the external adjusted scopes and their overall operation.

I read in the instructions that the STOP is the device that you must manually reset the scope to for setting of eye relief after each shot.

I have a Wollensak I just acquired, 4X, it is similar, no recoil spring, but it indeed does have a stop and not having shot it on a rimfire, I can see it moves quite easily fore and aft and may need to be reset for and aft often.

Is this really the case?
Im sure high recoil rifles really make these thing move a bit.

Secondly-- aside form a COOL FACTOR section to none..... what is the allure of the Lyman Super Spot in any magnification for any purpose??

Are they supremely clear, precise????

Seriously I love the look and like the adjustments but I need more than cool to drop big money on one (Or decker, unertl, etc).

Please someone fill me in on the details in simple form.

Thanks in advance

I personally don't care for recoil springs that automatically return the scopes. So I pull mine back after each shot on guns with some recoil. Not needed often on a .22RF single shot, as they don't move much.
But to answer your question. Yes! You need to pull it back each time recoil moves the gun back, leaving the scope forward. It gets to be a habit after while, and if you forget, you'll find yourself climbing the stock to get proper eye relief.

Vall, what is the allure though?
What will I get that I can't get with a $150-200 US made scope?

Tell me what I am missing.
Never used one. The Wollensak is literally new to me and Ive not shot the rifle or even cleaned up the scope yet, from the 1930's.

The so-called "recoil springs" are NOT for return-to-battery.  If you think about it, if they were set to do so, you would get a serious slap  between the scope and mounts, seriously stressing one or both.   The springs are just to stop a scope quicker when used on a rifle with considerable recoil.   You still ALWAYS have to pull the scope back each shot.

A lot of it just to be more traditional.  But I doubt you'd find a $150-$200 scope that is as good as my 20x STS.

Chris, that's what I wanted to hear.

It's better.

And also "to be more traditional", that's good too.

They look good on a. Big fat octagon barrel too.

Thank you for the info. Excellent

Also you can get more range out of the unertl, sts, fecker and the like VS an internal adjustment scope with out having to play with the scope blocks most fixed scope you can only get 600 yds before you run out of adjustment
