Where to purchase cast bullets?

     Hi All:

Where is the a good source of cast bullets? I am looking for 25-20 and 32-40 bullets.

I see them listed between 15 and 40 cents apiece from various vendors for the same size and weight.  Does the increase in price make a better bullet?

I bought 500 80 grain .257 bullets for $20.00 per 500 and 500 i70 grain 32-40 bullets for $25.00a couple of years ago.  I do not know if this was a good price or a good bullet.

How does one determine if a bullet is good or if it is bad other than shooting it?

Any suggestions as to where I may purchase a good cast bullet?

Any suggestions as to what a good cast bullet in 32-40 would be?

Also, try Chey Bullets. They shoot well in my 38cal, but don't know if they offer 32cal.  Also, try Sagebrush.

What twist & length barrel do you have? Starting with the correct bullet will go a long ways to getting it to shoot well.

Also try bulletsbybennett.com.  Match quality swaged bullets.  Not cheap but great bullets.

FWIW I've been getting nice groups out of my 38-55 CPA using 255-grn FB Lyman 248-mold ones from Western Bullet, 20-to-1 cast to boot.

All of my single shots shoot one tiny ragged hole with cast bullets ... it's just the following shots that tend to open up my groups Wink ...

I just ordered some Paul Jones Creedmoor 540 gr bullets from Sage Outfitters. You might check them out.

      Hi:

Thanks for the tip.  However, it appears that they do not cast bullets in the sizes that I desire. .25 and .32 calibre.

                                               Stay well,

Western Bullet ( (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)) makes decent bullets for good prices and have several that I seldom find elsewhere.

Check out Missouri Bullet Company. Good website, good people to deal with and quality bullets. Also offer some bullets with the Hi-Tek coating that does away with lube in the grooves of the bullet. I have tried the 25 cal. bullet (not the hi-tek) in my 25-20 Marlin lever action with good results. A friend has tried the 25 cal. bullet in a 250 Savage with good results.

If it were me, I'd buy a mould from Steve Brooks and do it myself rather than buy them.

i second the motion for casting your own.  it's too easy, really.  doesn't require anything special other than a small furnace, ladle, lead, gloves, a dross spoon, tin can, folded cotton towel - and a mould.  sawdust makes a great flux.  as to toxic lead fumes, do it with some ventilation or outdoors or both - it's really not at all that bad.  dip lubing is just as easy, too.  Cool

Add a hot plate(without the exposed coils) to pre heat the mould and you're all set.

never had a need to do that with all three of my melters - i just place the mould on its ledge.  also, never had a need to smoke a mouid.  it's all good, whatever works out best.  Cool
