	Well, maybe "target" is pushing it a bit ... but here are some pics of my No.4 rolling block rifle with the correct Lyman tang sight and beech combination front sight. The take-down is tight and the bore is excellent.

	The barrel is 22-3/8" octagonal and the caliber is ".22 SHORT or LONG". I got this to let my daughter, 10 years old, learn to shoot from iron sights. Most of my friends that have seen the rifle snicker and say I really bought it for me.

	I rarely see any #4 Remingtons that are that nice! It's a beauty, with some great sights too!

	There's just something about the Remington #4 roller that is truly appealing. I've three of them and they are a favorite of mine for plinking and at times just handling. Bought a #4 action several years ago and fitted it with a bull barrel from a H&R M12 target rifle. Then made a butt stock and forearm to give the rifle the look of a 1930s varmint rifle. Attached a Unertl 8X scope and now have a tack driver of a little rifle from parts and a couple of sticks of walnut. At this point I still want to do a trigger job on it and plan to soon. My Remington #4 rollers and a Stevens 44 in 22LR are shown in the photos below. The rifle I built on the #4 action can be see as the 3rd one down in the photo, minus the Unertl it now wears. Only wish I has one as a kid. Sendaro

	Nice No. 4's, guys. Good to see some positive reinforcement for the #4's. I have a No. 4 solid breech in .32 RF that I have been thinking about having converted to .22 RF OH rifle. When I mentioned it or ask for advice, I usually get responses "Not worth it" or "It's a kid's rifle" or "It won't make a target rifle." I would like to put a #2 1/2 26" straight taper full octagon barrel and larger wood on the action. It's already D&T'd for a tang sight with a long base and the trigger pull (checked by 2 different gauges) at a hair under 2 lbs. I know it's a money pit, but it's my money pit.

	I put much more into these than planned.... I will replace the wood some day.

	If your rifle is not in 7.62 and you can't hit what you are aiming at with de-linked machinegun ammo you are a pretender.

	As I recall it is a No. 3. The side flats are just about flush with the receiver. The rifle is chambered for 22 WM.

	The heavy barrel on the top #4 is a #2 Winchester taper that I purchased from Green Mountain to install on your action.The other is the barrel they offer for the 22 pump and lever action rifles and is very close to the Winchester #1 taper. Have your children been doing much shooting with the rim fire shortage? The #4 can be made into a very nice RF off hand rifle, the pistol grip pattern that I developed for my wife's rifle and have at TreeBone Carving turns it from a child's rifle to a very practical adult rifle with correct dimensions. There are some excellent photos of the above mentioned rifle on TreeBones web sight under Rolling Blocks. SSS

	those little #4s can be tack drivers, if the Bore is good and the barrel frame joint it tight Just for fun Ought-six shot a offhand in the UGLY wind with one yesterday----with the standard factory boys stock, factory open barrel sight and coarse bead--and racked up a 188!!!!
