Before selecting a mold you need to know what the groove-to-groove diameter of your barrel is.

Then order a mold the same diameter or .001 or .002 wider than your groove-to-groove diameter.

I use a .323 bullet in my .32 caliber barrel which has a groove-to-groove diameter of .321.

Then you need to match the bullet's length to match the twist of the rifling in your barrel.

You have to determine the twist of the rifling and then calculate the maximum bullet you can use with the Greenhill's formula.

(You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

I have a 11.5:1 twist which allows me to use a maximum length bullet of 1.35". I use a 1.298" long 235 grain bullet in my .32 caliber rifle.

Then you must select a bullet nose.

Flat nose - best for hunting with.
Spitzer nose - best for wind effect out to 200 yards.
Rounded nose (Creedmore/Postell) - best for 300 + yards

And match the nose diameter to your barrel's throat.

No throat - Money nose or tapered diameter bullet

Maximum Bullet Nose Diameter - same as land-to land diameter of your barrel

Then order a custom bullet that matches your rifle.

Schuetzendave...OK...Then when I get my barrel slugged I can take some of those specs to get my initial measurements to put the Greenhill formula to use...I will try and get the twist when I get home and then finger out my sizes...Thank you for that...I can understand the reason for custom cut molds... Would you recommend a mold maker for me?
It sounds like my wife is getting a lot of goodies this year....I may have to stretch it out over a birthday and maybe even Christmas this year...Thanks again.....

Jim Borton, who is listed under Single Shot Products in the For Sale section, can provide you with the right mold if you give him the specs. for your barrel. He makes very good molds at a reasonable price with quick delivery.

David Moss and Paul Jones moulds are no longer available; but used ones are worth picking up.

Other mold makers appreciated by the cast bullet users are:

To order a custom bullet you need to specify the following:

I.E. specifications for Paul Jones 32001 Spitzer is:

Nose Shape: Spitzer
Bullet Weight: 235 grains
Maximum Nose Diameter: 0.320"
Base Diameter: 0.323"
Seating Depth: 0.730" (length of driving bands)
Number of Grease Grooves: 6
Bullet Length: 1.298"

Works extremely well in .32 caliber rifles with 11.5:1 twist for 200 yard Schuetzen competitions.

14:1 twist .32 caliber rifles do quite well with 200 to 210 grain bullets which have the best length for that  twist.

I.E. specifications for 205 grain Paul Jones Spitzer is:

Nose Shape: Spitzer
Bullet Weight: 205 grains
Maximum Nose Diameter: 0.320"
Base Diameter: 0.323"
Seating Depth: 0.650" (length of driving bands)
Number of Grease Grooves: 5
Bullet Length: 1.176

Usually works well in .32 caliber rifles with 14:1 twist for 200 yard Schuetzen competitions.

However Greenhill's formula says to use a bullet no longer than 1.1" for 14:1 twist for .32 calibers with a groove-to-groove of .321".

So it may work some days but shooting at higher temperatures or higher elevations means it may not be as stable.
Therefore a slightly shorter bullet than this 205 PJ may work better under all shooting conditions for 14:1 twist barrels.

For more information on bullet stability see this article by Don Miller:
