Jarmann, I have 2, both rebarreled, the one in 45-70 has a Martini-Henry carbine barrel and the other has a fast twist barrel in 50-70. I shoot both black and smokeless in them and also duplex in the 50-70. In the 45-70 a 500 grain bullet and 70 grains of Swiss will get your shoulder's attention. I'm currently working on a load for the 50-70 with a 625 grain bullet for BPCR just for fun. There are some pictures of them on the list somewhere.

I have a Comblain rebarreled in 45x2 7/8 and the best powder for these old actions is sr-4759. I shoot mine with a 420  grain bullet and it is pretty accurate but it has a modern barrel on it.

Have shot a Belgian commercial rifle in 11.5 x 53R, ex bore so no need to change it.  45-70 cases slightly necked down.  200 gr pistol bullets sized down some with 5.7 gr Trail Boss ( TB has to be good for something!).  A squib load, of course, but just wanted to shoot it so I could say I had.  BIG  holes...!!!
Now just dont get started on the trigger pull.  There is a reason one is able to put two fingers on the trigger....!!!!

I make cases out of 50/90 brass or beaumond brass with vihta n340 or n110 depending my daily  mood ??, the bullets same as 45/70 trapdoor .458  385 to 405 gn  works very well for me at 100 m target, with 300 gn bullets I can keep my necks  depending annealing
triggerpull can be easily adjusted  ,a dremeltool does polishing wonders !!! or a very small file wrapped with  finest sandpaper does the job to ,after half  an hour testing, you dismantle and assemble  the system blind
comblain trigger mechanism is the simplicity it selfs ,

Had a Comblain, but it was a small rook rifle, so not the typical large military caliber. Think mine was .380 Rook.
