43 Spanish Brass Question

Shot my first set of hand loads yesterday and found that a bullet won't fit in the fired brass. Looks like I'll just have to bell the mouth. I'm a nube when it comes to reloading large calibre ammo. Is this common when working with large calibre rounds ? TIA !

I get by with a little help from my friends !

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

Yes, it's pretty common to have to bell the neck slightly to get a bullet to seat without shaving lead.

Or, your bullet is too large? Groove and bullet diameters please.

I hope your brass has the very thick rims (~0.089").  If not, you can expect bad case stretching and separations on the first or second firing.  This with an 1879 Argentine Roller, which has ~0.090" rim recess.

You say the bullet won't fit in the fired brass. Before resizing,   or after?
