The U.S. Homeland Security has stopped the shipment of rifle scopes across the border unless you have an import and export permit from both countries.

Any person in Canada can sell or buy rifle scopes without any restrictions or regulations. They just have trouble getting it past the U.S. border guards unless you have both the import and export permits which are required by American Homeland Security.

I am a Canadian and had bought an Unertl from the U.S. The U.S. seller was fined $250 for selling me an externally adjusted 10X scope (by the U.S. border guards who seized the scope).

Pretty stupid if they think I was illegally picking up a sniper scope for some terrorist activity when I can go down to the local sporting store and buy a 36X scope with Mildots without any restrictions.

I think I know that person, he did not pay the fine but forfieted the scope.

Yes the regs are a pain in the hinney, but if you have somebody with the correct paperwork they can handle the sending to the correct paperwork holder in CA.

They collectively include all scopes instead of listing what ones individually.

Oh Well rules suck........

It applies to all scopes of any type, all reloading components including brass ( with some very minor exceptions ), and almost all firearms parts.

However, for a small fee you can solve all of these problems of course

It doesn't have to make sense to the government! It makes money to charge fees or fines, so they win regardless of making sense or not.

Nothing is going to change by complaining to those on this site, you would better served to spend the time and energy contacting those representatives who are supposed to be serving you!
