Sights on Stevens 416/Sears Ranger

I'm posting on The ASSRA site since every internet surf on the gun ends up in this forum.  I have a Ranger used in competition by my grandfather and mother in the '30's with the Stevens 106 rear and a Redfield 60 series front sight.  The Redfield front sight is mounted to the barrel on top of a dovetail blank to give a centerline height of 1/2" above the barrel.  With that sight, the rear sight is adjusted almost to the bottom of the vertical slot.  This condition seems to be common to all the reference photos of 416's and Rangers with the Stevens #25 globe as well.  Plenty of vertical adjustment left for lobbing 22's at 200-500 yards?  Does anyone have the dimensions, esp. centerline dimension, for the Stevens #25 globe above the top of the barrel?  I saw a post stating that the Stevens #104 patridge sight on the 416-2 had a height of 9/16" but the post wasn't clear about where the measurements were taken-total height or from top of barrel.
