Harry,
It takes a great man to admit a small mistake!
Hello BAW,
Long time no see here, nice to have you back. I wasn't criticising GP, but merely chiding him jokingly and I hope he took it that way. I doubt if many Americans could (off the top of their heads) name the last ten kings and queens of England. Likewise I doubt if many Englishmen could name the last ten or twenty US Presidents. They come and go with monotonous regularity. If GP is upset by my comments then I unreservedly apologise, no insult was intended. A little harmless banter doesn't do any harm, it's called humour over here.
Regards,
Harry
Harry, not offended at ALL !!
If that's the worst I ever get accused of, well then, I'm not doing doing my job !
Regarding my regal faux pas earlier, I honestly KNEW it was Victoria; but for some reason I got Elizabeth in my brain.
And I do know a little Martini history too.
I have read about O'Rourke's Drift where that small band of brave troopers held off the attacking African natives with their Martini-Henrys.
I believe it was that same fellow- Sergeant O'Rourke who played next to Corporal Agarn in that historically accurate US TV series F-Troop back in the 1960's
Regarding US presidents, some should be readily identifiable as we like to put their mugs on our currency. And since we are so good at throwing it around all over the world, the likes of Grant, Lincoln and Jackson should be familiar even in the remotest of outposts !
