You can check it yourself with a tightly fitted patch on a ramrod or cleaning rod.  Make a mark on the rod, pass it throgh the bore and see how far it takes to make 1 revolution.

Actually, mine's a Uberti, and it's the shorter carbine.  I would like to find a nice Officer's Model though!  Some day maybe...

The trick about a tight patch, with a "flag" of masking tape on the cleaning rod works really well.  It's an easy 5-minute task.

Tight groups.

Sorry John Boy, Today at the range we compaired the original officers rifle barrel to the H-R both are 1-22 twist. Nothing like the buffalo classic 3 lands and grooves like the original but bore .450 grooves .458.

I have an H&R Officer's Model and a LBH Commerative Carbine and both measured 1:22 twist.
I had a couple of the H&R TD Rifles and seem to recall they were 1:18, but I might be mistaken.  Maybe if someone has one of those yet, they can make a measurement.
The groove measurements I made seem to confirm the 0.456" H&R specification.
Mike.

M C Oneshot. Did you notice the post was from 2014? The H-R owner is now in Arizona there was not a lot to compare he did bump it once and found the PEWTER forend cap is some type of composite material and did glue it back together. here are a couple of my OM rifles with a sporter Springfield.

Interesting timing...
The new issue of the BP cartridge magazine came yesterday.  Two gentlemen have a very informative article about bore dimensions.
There is a tool that can measure three-groove barrels.  Most are way on the fat side of .458".
