A magnificent Borchardt LR Target Rifle and it appears to be in original factory condition. The estimated selling price is less than a half of one from the late Ray Day Collection which sold at Amosquegue (sp) Auction about four years ago and only a near quarter of the price one sold for last year. If I had the money I'd buy it today. Sadly I'm about 15,000 bucks shy. Cry  Anyone do interest free loans?  Huh

very nice rifle, probably a great price but WAY out of my league.

hate to nit-pick but . . . . .

"original wood side paddles"      ??????????

paddles??   Roll Eyes

I know very very little about the S/Bs but were not the original inlay panels a composite like hard rubber or "gutta percha"? Huh

Does it look like a piece of leather under the buttplate? I wonder if they bobbed the "horn" off of the buttplate? Or maybe they did not have them-can't remember.

I thought these would have had hard rubber panels too; but who knows ??
And at first I thought there was a cork shim under the buttplate , like a bit of a recoil pad.
But maybe it's just walnut or something.
Seems an odd thing to do, unless somebody just had to add a 1/4" to the LOP ??

Well, I have to admit that long range shooting isn't my thing.  I'm much more the schutezen dreamer than anything else.  But having made the admonition . . . that shore be one purdy gun.  And for a mere $22K, too.  Such hah bargain!  Grin

the wood panels inlays are not a real good match for the stock---in my opinion.   that should lower the price by 5 or 10 bucks

Hey Q-B  !!!

Back in the Fifties I worked on a this Rifle's brother only it was a 32" smooth-bore and pretty well beat up..

It too had wood panel's and a leather spacer at the Butt-plate and when I asked the Owner, he said that it was standard issue for that year !!!

Go figure !!!      Embarrassed

Ed...

Guy's, I have a Midrange and it has wood panels just as that one. I also am in the process of restoring a Long Range again with the Wood panels. Both of them are in the 7000 serial number range. In Sellers book he gives a date or serial number range when the company went to the Hard Rubber inserts. Regards, FITZ. Smiley

good to know, but it seems to me like, if it originally had wood panels, they'd have been a better match to the stock than the ones shown in the photo. they look a couple grades better and they have a heck of a lot of finish on them.   like I said,  just nit-picking,   or sour-grapes  Cheesy

Hey guy's. Just looked at it again and found a bad clue. The fourth picture I think is a good close up of the right side of the action. The breechblock has a serial number that is not the Action number in the description #7014. The wrong #is 6659. Now I have had the opportinity to handle and look over many LR Borchardts and have seen numbered breechblocks and the numgers have always matched the action number. Plus the number 5 is stamped sideways. I do not think the factory would have made that mistake. BAH-HUMBUG another dream gone sour. Regards, FITZ.
