Which Lyman Scope

I have an Lyman 10X Targetspot scope.
However it has the larger 1.3" objective lens that is usually found on the Super Targetspot scope. Also it is 24 inches long like the Super Targetspot scope.

It is only marked as a Targetspot and not Super Targetspot.

Not sure what Lyman scope I have or if it has been modified.

Has someone added the Super Targetspot objective to my Targetspot scope or do I have a different Targetspot scope with a larger objective which makes it longer than the traditional Targetspot scope?

Also the front rings are designed to have the rib at the bottom. The Lyman Targetspot scopes are supposed to have the rib on top. So this has different front scope ring than the traditional Targetspots.

Dave,

I have an old Targetspot that has been upgraded to Super Targetspot by Lyman. I talked to Gil Parsons about it and he told me that Lyman upgraded quit a few, and that they marked them with an "S" after the serial number, that's what mine has.

Lyman introduced the Targetspot in 1933 for competitive target shooters, and it was equipped with the 4-point rear mount.
In 1937, Lyman introduced the Junior Targetspot and Super Targerspot, along with the new 3-point rear mount.
The earlier 4-point rear mount was discontinued in 1938.

It's the same mount used on 5As & optional on 438s.

RS,
That's what I was thinking it might be and why I was asking for a picture. Would it have the cresent shaped scope block and screw or the regualar A5/438 pin shaped? I've only seen the pin style on thoughs front mounts. If they had the cresnt, I have a striped 438 that I would love to modify to the Targetspot screw.

Talking about the Targetspot?  My Targetspot brochure, dated 1934, says it uses same blocks as 5A & 438, meaning the pointed screw.  Perhaps they changed this after '37, when the ST came along, but I don't know.
