Hi guys dont know if this the right place to post this but  just to introduce myself, have lots of questions, first off is the forum restricted to american weapons or does it include all single shot rifles. secondly I reside in the UK so we are restricted as to what we can own, consiquently I do not shoot any of my weapons (boo hoo) but i do like to collect them especially western guns.

Welcome to the forum. I think you will find a wide variety of European rifles and calibers discussed here. If you want to discuss bolt action or repeating rifles it is permitted in the off topic section.

Again, welcome and enjoy the discussions.

Welcome. I feel your pain with regard to your gun restrictions. It is a constant battle here. British guns are welcome here. Even have a few myself. Feel free to ask questions and contribute. Anyone over there with the Stevens Bisley Model that was made for the British market back in the teens? I am always looking for info on these.

Hello Mark , and a jolly good welcome from one Brit in the Colonies to another Brit in the Mother Lands.

How easy we forget all the goodness that British Small Arms has brought to we mere mortals.  Particularly at times when we have had to resort to armed violent to stave off those nasty aggressors who have sought to usurp our freedoms and place us into a state of bondage.  Have you even seen some of the photos of London after a night of buzz bombing circa 1942-44 ?  I'm sure you understand what they were saying to us ?  Excuse me Mr. Churchill, for I am all for forgiveness, but not for forgetfulness.

In addition to that, as if "that" weren't enough, B.S.A. made one of the nicests motorcycles to cross the Atlantic in a westward direction.

Best to you Mark and enjoy your visits, for you are welcomed here.     Smiley

I do not shoot any of my weapons

Ship them over here to Canada or the US and we would be happy to test them out for you. You will have no problem obtaining foster parents that can ensure your collectables have the required accuracy.
May take me a while to find the ideal sweet spot and best load for your firearms.

Many over here would love you to ship over some BSA Martinis.

well in answer to all your replies, first got lots of pics but i guess you want gun pics, second i got fed up pushing old BSA motorcycles home so now ride something reliable (HD), third motherland is actually Canada and if i could i would ship my whole collection and myself back to the motherland and shoot them myself, anyway thanks for the warm welcome from all of you and i'll get some pics up within the next few days, don't know how good they will be because i will have to take them indoors, if i take them outside i will be taken away.

Regards Mark.

Hi Mark48, I presume you collect antique firearms that don't require a license and don't shoot them as if you want to own a firearm in the UK you have to have a reason for owning one such as target shooting or have your own land and need one for pest control.
The secretary of a target shooting club is asking for trouble from the Police if he has a member who doesn't turn up and merely belongs to the club as an excuse to hold a firearm.
Regards.

Welcome aboard. Now I have a couple questions for you. Recently I've become rather fond of Rook rifles and have been reloading for a 297/250.
In all the UK has the supply of old ELEY ammo long since vanished as well? Also is/was there ever anybody that produced proper molds (.251) for these 25's ? Thanks for any thoughts.

High Nero you are correct, in the UK we are only permitted to collect certain obsolete calibres, my main interest was always western guns and there is no provision for shooting these over here, if we wish to shoot them then we have to join a club and there are so many hoops to jump through to get a permit its just not worth the hassle anymore. Oh to live across the pond.

Regards Mark.

Hi Tim_s, in answer to your question i think all ammo has disapeared from these shores, the powers that be think that we are not responsible enough to be trusted with anything more lethal than a peashooter, maybe one day they will ban those too, sorry can't help you with your other query rook rifles are not my thing and reloading equipment and supplies are not available to anybody unless you have a license and they are hard to come by in the UK.

Regards Mark.
