The local shops near Boston are starting to stock up on ammo, less 22LRs. I'm starting to see basic calibers like 9mm, 7.62x39mm, and others close to being back to the prices PRE-2nd term election, frenzy, and post-Newtown tragedy pricing.

I just don't get it on 22s though, I mean ATK (owns Federal and others) makes 5-7 MILLION rounds a week and think of it ... that tooling cannot be used on centerfire mfg lines.

It's gotta be either some speculators buying up train cars full or the 'hoarders' ... of which I think we'd all be if we saw some on the shelves ...

If people are speculating, I think they'll be in for a rude surprise. I myself use 1K cases of -39mm as my ammo price barometer and it went from $225 per, PRE-issues/events, up to $275 to $325, back to $275 at the beginning of this year and just saw a sales flyer for $260.

All of my single shots shoot one tiny ragged hole with cast bullets ... it's just the following shots that tend to open up my groups Wink ...
