I was going through some old records and found the following. Can you guess the year?

Early 1940's I would think, Oh for a time machine, I'd be a millionaire in a week, if that is, I could bring myself to sell anything. Undecided

Rustyrelx wins big time. My records show it as 1953.

You have to remember that $100 was about 125% or more of a weeks wages at that time, still a bargin.

I bought a Ballard once upon a time. A Long Range to be exact. When I removed the buttplate there was a note under there. "Unidentified Long Range $150  1953". Yep the times certainly have changed.

Think I bought a Trapdoor in reasonable shape in 1953/55 for $25.00 in a local shop. Looks like I overpaid.

My guess was early 50's as well. I remember those ads in the Rifleman and the lists my father got from Ed Agramonte in Yonkers about that time.

I was at a friend's house when his mother brought him a Trapdoor Springfield to play with. She had bought it for $0.50. It was brand new, in cosmoline or whatever was used then. It was cheap as it was missing the hammer. This is how they were packed for shipping.

Hot Dam .... they were priced well in the 1953 year I was born! As compared to wages and take home, it wasn't too bad - but still premium for the quality guns. Not much has really chasnged ............ eh?
