I am shooting .45 colt with 35 grains of F1 powder in a maynard rifle, the action is 140 yrs old and I want to keep using black, in your opinion is there a better black powder ( 1F, 2F, 3F)? Thanks for your answers,, Hank 45   Smiley

Hank45,
I use 33grs of 3f in my SAA copy revolvers under a 265gr soft cast bullet with 1/32" fiber wad on powder with slight powder compression, maybe 1/16". 3f burns much cleaner than 2f, I could not detect any increase in felt recoil between the 2f & 3f loads, never did chrono the loads.
