Stevens model 17-29 Favorite ????

What is a "17-29 Favorite"?

I can't find any info on this model.

I can buy a two barrel set (22RRF and 32RF) for $400.

Good condition for age. No issues. Rough bores.

What say you......Buy / No Buy?

Sure it isn't a #27?  That was merely a Favorite with full oct. brl.  No #29 that I can find listed, but that doesn't make it impossible. Price seems fair, if both have extractors.

He's dead wrong if he wrote that; #18 had a Beach front with a Stevens #102 tang sight.

In another catalog (54), I found the #29--full oct., with a #5 Lyman front & a #1A Lyman tang sight.

Interesting that the Lyman tang sight cost slightly more than the Stevens.

Roy,

Besides getting both extractors, I'd want to make sure you also got both the 22RF breechblock and the 32RF breechblock as well.

Looks like what you've got is a standard #17 1894 Favorite & an unrelated 2nd brl.  It's not really a "two-brl. set."

I would have to agree. You got a second breech block and extractor with a 2 barrel set.

Is it at all possible that the rimfire breech block could "reach" the rim of both cases, 22RF and 32RF?

I've heard of 32RF breech blocks working with 22RF relines......???

Why not skip all speculation & try it yourself?  But even if it does, where are you going to find shootable 32s?  32RFs at $50 or more per box aren't "shootable," in my opinion. (On the other hand, I'm an old guy squeaking by on SS.)

I have no intention of shooting 32RF. Although I would find modifying cases with all sorts of ideas about ram-set charges or turning my own cases on the lathe with a 22short as a primer and black powder loads.
But no, I have enough weird projects going on. My plan would be to sleeve that barrel to 17mkII.
