Amazing it was suggested by a moderator that someone step up to the plate to start the Poll and CW was man enough to do so only to see some of you folks turn on him like a bunch of vultures. The way I read his original post it was not open to debate and all you had to do was simply cast your vote and leave it at that.

So why didn't you just vote, Louis?  Why are you posting negative remarks? Calling people vultures?

         Joe.

I'm shocked, Joe. Shocked, I tell you. Vultures? How ungentlemanly to call names. The fairer sex (can we use that word here?) and young children will be scandalized.

What is Off-topic?  I have not read it, or at least did not know I was reading it if I did read it.

I didn't vote because I'm not clear on what happens if I vote for an item on the list.  Truth be told; I normally only read the 'For Sale', General, Reloading, and some times 'Single Shot'.

Is there an issue with retaining all the posts, including OT?

I'm easily confused, but I'm still hav'n fun!

Off topic chatter at the bottom of the topics page, Mike. CW is trying to get all political discussion banned from the forum.  I think CW has to much time on his hands. And this thread should be in the off topic chatter section.  Grin

Off Topic was created to have a place where the non-gun,shooting,collecting etc etc discussion would be permitted rather than rigorously banning it.
The hope was that by relegating valid off-topic discussions of general interest to its own area it would tighten the focus and raise the level of discourse in those areas more relevant to the purpose of the site.
I welcomed it's creation and I think it accomplished the desired goal to a large extent.
We still occasionally get personal e-confrontations, discussions that slip sideways into politics and opinion in the main areas.  But the moderators can monitor the few and handle them appropriately.
I have only visited the Off-topic sub-forum once or twice, very briefly.
However if it IS de-evolving into an arena for social/political e-confortation, character-assault, and pointless repetitive mental-self-abuse perhaps it needs to be re-evaluated.
Why waste band-width, moderators and site administrators time and effort?
I think that was the purpose of the suggestion for a poll.   Is it still serving a valid purpose, or just as an electronic version of a personal soap-box or public restroom wall

I joined this forum to learn about and discuss the subject of SS rifles not politics or unrelated topics. When I log on my first action is to search for new posts, often that result contains more unrelated hits than SS ones. It would be nice to have the option to limit the search only to topics of interest. IE filter unwanted  topics from being included in the search. Should be an easy option to offer the individual user.

If off topic posts are made, an alert to the Mod. can be made and it can be removed or moved to an appropriate location. More work for the Mod. though.

That's my TSW.

Very simple. Don't click on the off topic chatter section. I read it and post on it all the time. Like to know what other interests other SS enthusiasts are interested in. Some go a little whacky on the political subjects.

Poll is over in FORTY MINUTES!

Let the debate begin regarding the RESULTS of the poll.

I've stirred the pot (no pun intended) enough.

THANKS one and ALL for responding.
