lead alloy ratio vs bhn

As I have looked back through old postings I see a lot of discussion on lead to alloy ratios.   Since different alloys also effect hardness is there some sort of general rule to equate ratio to BHN.   In specific what would the BHN of a 25 to 1 soft cast bullet be as opposed to a 20 to 1?

Also, what BHN would be best for my circa 1880 Marlin 3240? Smiley

25/1 is 3.8% tin with a hardness of 9.7. 20/1 is 4.76 tin with a hardness of 9.98

1% Antimony upps BHN by @0.9
1% Tin upps BHN by @0.3

Antimony rises the surface tension of lead and by itself makes wrinkled bullets.
Tin lowers it.
So add them in equal amounts if you want to go hard. It also deters the tendensy of brittle bullets when Antimony is used alone.

When the amount of Tin rises above 10% the alloy will start to soften again.

Take it from there.

This chart is from "CAST BULLETS", by Col. Harrison.
