When using one scope block to hold a sight extension such as pictured in this thread, recommend pinning both ends of the block to the barrel. Watched my old shooting pardner struggle with his for years. I could count on having to help him get on target every time he mounted his sights. If it wasn't the block moving, it was a sloppy fit to the block. Used to take him fifteen to twenty shots to get sighted in.

Also Freelands used to make the same style adapter as creedmore shows with the anschutz sight, I still have a couple, they slip on unertl blocks and extend and drop or raise the block location. I also bought an adapter to go to a redfield mount (Olympic/International) from a company in Wisconsin I think it was EKL.

Kurt's idea is better. Proven product that allows access to the breech for loading.

Love that adapter... and it would work GREAT for a RIGHT HANDED Martini.
Just looking at it, I think it would block the loading port of my LEFT HANDED MKIII...
But it's going in the "idea bank" anyway.. just in case!

That's right. Forgot we're talking about a big blocky action with a small loading port on the side.

Why not get a good condition Parker Hale sight made for the rifle. Think I saw some on fleabay, the other day.

That's a possibility... but by the time I also rework that sight to take modern Anschutz threaded apertures, etc, I'd be in the hole financially vs mounting an Anschutz sight I already have.

Think you can use adapters for all the modern diopters. Inexpensive. I may have some, somewhere.

Yes, Brownell's has a similar product.  Probably a copy of Rice's . I like the Rice adapter better. His seater is a work of art.  (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

Note : Al Freeland designed the 1" Freeland tube sight for Mark III. I believe Unertl Manufactured them.  EKL was Earl Liebetrau of Black Earth, WI.  I bought bases from Earl. I do not remember an adapter, but he made a lot of things. Good long range shooter. The family shot Highpower.  I shot a 199-14x at 600 with a M1A only to be beaten by his wife, Karen who shot a 200-4X .  It took the wind out of my sail, and made my hat fit better..
