My vote is for Rem 2 1/2 or Fed F150

I like Winchester WLR or CCI Bench Rest….but you’re mileage may vary.  Wink

Timely post, I'm getting a 38-55 barrel for my CPA in a few weeks.  Some additional questions if Joe doesn't mind me slightly hijacking his post.

Low briessence primers seem to be favored for BP.  Has anyone switched from magnums to lesser ones and seen a difference?
Is anyone using over-primer

Dave

Utah, I use a piece of printing paper inside the case that I punch out with a tool I purchased from Buffalo Arms.
But, that is with my .45-70/90 with BP...
and Magnum Federal Primers...

The primer that works best is dependent on the power used; Rem 2 1/2 works best in my 45-70 with 1Fg Swiss, Fed 150M works best with 1.5Fg Swiss, CCI-Br2 worked best with 1Fg Goex Express, WLP primers worked best with 2Fg Goex.

I have not used magnum primers for many years.

I do not use any primer wad inside my case, because with the thickness of paper I use, it just causes a mess for cleaning the case.  I punch the primer through the copy paper when seating the primers.

Keep on hav'n fun!
