Developing loads for .32-20CPA ............ want to keep this thread simple & to the point. Primer selection only. Which of the following & why (or, why not)?: Remington 7 1/2, CCI BR 4, or Federal 205M. Should any others be considered, and why?

I had some success with the .32-20 CPA using Federal 205 GMM primers.  I tried everything else but no other primer performed as well.  However, I loaded with 12.8 gr of AA 4100 - a very hot load.

It could very well be that different loads of different powders would respond better to other primers.

If you don't take the time to try them all you will never know if you left more accuracy on the table so I guess it would depend on the level of accuracy you would be willing to live with.

I would take the Federal 205Ms my second choice is the Remington 7 1/2 if I can't get the Federals.

I've had decent results with CCI BR4's and Remington 7 1/2. The edge go's to BR4's for accuracy in my rifle. Federal 205m's are next on my list to try.

I've heard it said that once you've worked up a load, try every primer you can get your hands on.

That is to say there are several considerations.

One would be the consistency from primer to primer to primer.

Another would be the consistency of ignition with a given primer-powder combination.
