I use a large ziploc bag for jobs like this.  However, I can only afford one Ballard and it's a #2, and pulling out the firing pin is easy.  No spring, no flying parts.  But if you lose the screw, you're out of luck.  So I'm very careful about taking it out to clean it. Cool

a variation on the cow magnets and garden rake was tried.  the pin was not found, but a large number of rusty staples a few small screws and a sight insert were found.  Perhaps we need to pick up one of those roofer's lawn clean-up magnet devices to our range equipment collection  Wink

Fortunately the poor unlucky target of this thread  Grin   had other rifles to shoot.  Normally he has a supply of spare parts he generously share with others in need,  for some reason this time he did not have an extra Ballard FP in his box,  and no one else on the line did either.

Do it in a large cardboard box.  Learned this the hard way.  There is a big carpeted floor that holds a tiny piece of a 25 automatic.  Ever hear a carpet laughing at you?
