A new cadet barrel question

One of my projects has the Sportco-Martini .22 cal marked  gain twist .22 barrels. It's in like new condition but...
It's been rechambered to .22 K Hornet.
Safe? Disaster waiting to happen?
Any feedback will be helpful. I seem to find the oddest projects.

Dino,
Most likely not - many hornets in the past were made from rim fire barrels. Take into account the 16" twist & the tighter bore when you're loading & you should be fine.

Ron

I believe Parker Ackley did some experiments begining with a .22 calibre  barrel chambered for a small cartridge and progressively  chambered it with bigger cartridges until he got to the  30.06 firing each one safely with no problems ..His conclusion was that if the firearm was chambered properly them the pressure caused by the swaging down of the projectile from the increased size to .22 was not huge .. I cant remember what he calculated  pressure  was   required to swage a 30.06 projectile down to .22 but it was much less than I would have imagined  ,so to swage a .22 center fire projectile down to .22 rimmfire dia would be a doddle  .. I saw a 270 that someone used a 308 in. They hammered the bolt forward till it closed. It did not swedge the bullet down from 30 to 27 but it did take most of the wood and mag box off and the base of the brass was welded to the bolt face.
