euro-4 lever DST question

OK you DST trigger gurus.  tinkering with a new to me Aydt.  Front trigger will not catch when the back trigger is pulled to set it.  I've adjusted the set screw in and out, doesn't seem to make a difference.  I've flushed a bunch of accumulated grime out with brake cleaner over folded up white paper towels.  I'm a bit apprehensive about disassembling it. Huh  I've been studying the diagrams in DaHass's chapter on the System Aydt and externally the trigger mechanism seems pretty much like the one he describes.  All the visible springs, main and the two fine little leaf springs, are are intact and look normal to me.    Any suggestions?

If you have it off the rifle, pull the set trigger and watch the sear surface on the firing trigger to see the engagement. Sounds like that would have to be the problem area if, all the spring are intact.

looking at the way it is working and comparing to the Dehass drawing on page 238   springs # 9 and 10 seem to be working ok.  There appears to be enough tension from the "set trigger spring"  #9 to make the trigger 'flip' if you pull and release it.  like wise, with the main spring down tight and both 9 and 10 under tension, pulling the back trigger causes both the first connecting lever (14) and the sear (15) to work.  It seems to me that the nose of the sear (14 is not catching in the notch on the front "firing trigger" (13)  I very apprehensively pushed out the pin the #15 'sear pivots on and dropped the sear out fr examination.  the "nose" does not to be chipped or unduly or unevenly worn.

OK I backed the engagement front trigger/sear adjusting screw out as in all the way---as in, "removed it entirely"----now the Trigger system will set and fire properly.  It appears the setting was just buggered and "set" non-functionally tight.

Setting the trigger and carefully reinstalling the screw until the system trips and then backing the screw out half a turn seems to hold and let it function reliably.  The adjustment screw is pretty easy to turn, even with bare finger tips.  I suspect a bit of loc-tite might be in order.  I am immensely relieved and appreciative of the advice.
Now if I can just get the the actions searbar/spring to drop in properly

I had the same issue with my Emil Bartsch rifle.  Make sure all of leaf type springs are parallel to the left and right sides of the trigger bar or barely more toward the outside.  Mine worked fine after adjusting the spring position.  You may not get a much of a perceptible change in trigger weight just more or less trigger movement before the rifle fires.

I have no way of measuring that light a trigger pull weight.  I really need to set it heavier before firing live ammo in it.  It is so light now that it goes off before I can really feel it on my finger tip---and I have pretty sensitive finger tips.  ADs even well-sighted down range make me really nervous.

Yet setting them and thumping the butt good with a padded fist will not trip it, nor will bumping the butt solidly on the carpeted floor.

The trigger on my rifle is extremely light, just touching the trigger from side is enough pressure to fire.  Adjusting to the heaviest possible there is now a little bit of travel before firing, but still too light for me.  Matches are shot in the winter here and cold fingers need to be able to feel a trigger
