Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

I've had good results with about 3.0-3.5 grs. of Unique and a 115 grain bullet in my .32 Long CF. I've also played with round balls and the same load and had fun.
I took a re-de capper with me on one trip to the range, along with a homemade scoop that held my charge. Used the same case all day long by just priming it again and another charge, then topping it with a round ball. It was a blast to plink this way, and more accurate than I thought it would be too.

I have shot my Ballard 32 CF/RF rifle pretty much like marlinguy with CF cases using round balls, found that if I lubed the balls with the Lee liquid lube first they shot really well at 25yds and no leading. I loaded .319" round balls seated flush in unsized cases with 3grs of Hodgdon Universal powder, Son and I had a great time a couple years ago shooting at broken clay birds with this load.
