I  will put it on a .22 Lowall to start. I have an MVA that I shoot silohette with so thats the only experience I have , thanks for any help,Bill

It all depends on the profile of your barrel.

I mount the blocks so their tops are identical heigth over the center bore of the rifle. So if the diameter of the barrel where you place the front mount is narrower; then that front mount needs to be taller by: (difference of: barrel width at rear mount minus barrel width at front mount).

If the barrel is the same diameter at both locations for the scope mounts; then you use mounts of the same height.

I've got a Green Mountain #3 barrel on it so the distance between the bases should be a matter of thousandths. so I need the same height bases . Thanks a lot,Bill

also it depends on the scope objective diameter, the amount of "clicks" it has in its elevation and windage, AND the range you are going to be shooting at.   Sometimes when shooting a 22 rf @ 200 yards you "run out of clicks"  and need to raise the back of the scope a little with a taller block (or a shim and longer screws.  BUT if your objective lens is too large it may hit the barrel, so you have to go to taller blocks all the way around.  Barrel taper can mess you up too.

I ordered some .250 thick bases,Guess I'll see how they work. I have a 150 yard , .22 RF,50 shot Buffalo shoot coming up in 2 weeks., so hopefully they will work OK.

With standard velocity ammo, you'll need ~16 MOA (0.032" on the adjustment turret with 7.2" spacing) to get to 150 yds.  For 200 yds., you'll need ~26 MOA, or 0.052" on the turret, to get to 200 yd.

Your adjustment is a total of 0.200".  If you're much above center when sighted at 50 yd., you probably need a rear base 0.050" higher (they come in 0.050" increments.)
