Sharps Triggers

Does anybody have an IAB 1874 Sharps with Double set triggers. I acquired one very cheaply and in very good condition ( and please don't tell me they are junk) and need to know how the screw in the upper tang that goes through the stock is handled. In most repros there is a threaded block attached to the trigger plate that fits over the rear trigger --see picture. The IAB set triggers don't have this boss (what looks like a solid block is just 2 thin narrow walls with the triggers in between, but as far as I can tell from pictures of set trigger IAB sharps the screw is still in the top strap. Is it a wood screw and is the hole in the stock for the screw not drilled or ???????? None of the repro parts dealers have the trigger plate with the boss, I have the IAB assembly.

Thanks
Bob

Early ones just had a wood nut embedded into the stock for the front tang screw later ones had an arch over the set triggers with a tapped hole for the front screw. If picture works left is from a kit rifle 2 is early 3 is later 4 is from a sharps casting set it has a grove in the top of each pillar for a nut if you can see it in the pic.

Thanks for the picture (it worked) I have the second from the left. I had come up with the idea to make a brass or steel wood insert for the tang screw and epoxy it into the existing screw hole. Then I started thinking about adding the bridge as in picture #3 if I can  machine it and silver solder it in place with out messing up the case color of the trigger plate. Thanks for confirming my thoughts about how the original was made. I can't find any IAB trigger plates with the bridge for the screw, gun parts had the entire assembly but it is without the bridge.

Thanks
Bob

If you machine the bridge for the screw, I would suggest TIG welding it on, you will have a much better chance of  not destroying the color case that way. Just keep the amps down and you should be fine.

If you run into a problem and need a replacement double set group for your IAB you can find it here:
