25rf is 17 twist. The 25/20 Stevens ss is 13 twist. Lots of difference. the 17 twist will handle the Lyman/Ideal 257420 but not much/any more bullet length.

Frank de Haas discusses the 25 Hornet Jr. in his Mr. Singleshot's Cartridge Handbook. I believe it is still available from his son and other sources.

It is a Hornet case shortened to 1.10" length. He refers to it as a "reloadable .25 Long rimfire" and suggests the Lyman No 25717 bullet with 6 grains of 2400 or the 257463 without the gas check and 6 grains of 4227.

He does state in no uncertain terms that the Favorite and Remington No 4 are not suitable for this round.

Is your barrel twist appropriate for the 25-20 SS or 25-21, or for the 25 Stevens Rimfire?

25rf is 17 twist.

This '94 has a twist of 1:17!  So, it's looking like a 25rf that was modified with a cf pinned block.  If that be the case, then the center fire stamped marks had to be added when it was modified.  But why put the CF stamp on the barrel bottom too?  Oh Well!

JB,
If your going to shoot that rifle, I would work up a load with Unique, of around 1000 to 1100 fps with the 257420 or if you can find one the 252435, 25 acp mold (52 gr) at maybe 1200 fps.

That's about all that I would feel safe with in the Favorite.

Frank, my goal is a load in the mid 900.  Believe Trail Boss can make it happen.  Backup powder is Unique, quite possibly a duplex load.  There are options and recognize one has to go easy with the pressure
