Rem. RB in 7mm Mauser

Many years ago brother-in-law and I hit every gun show in the area. He was a bad influence and got me into trouble with my wife a number of times.

One time we were getting real interested in building single shot rifles.  At one show I spotted a RB in 7mm Mauser, full military unaltered in super good shape.  Unaltered except the wood didn't match. The price was over my allowance but too good to pass up. Yea, I bought it.

As often happens, I spotted another that was in even better shape.  It was at the close of the show and the crowd was leaving.  We had to let it go.  Got about 20 miles down the road and brother-in-law came up with the idea he'd buy the one I just bought and I could buy the better one. So we turned around and went back and got it.

At next opportunity we got them out and shot them. The one he ended up with shot extremely well and at point of aim. The one I got shot about 4" group about 8" to the right.

His was sold in his estate sale. Mine is still in the vault somewhere.  We never got around to butchering them up to make something else and I'm glad we didn't.

I've been all over this forum (but not everywhere) and not seen one or read about one.  The are not uncommon.  Are they too common?   I would have thought a newer high pressure action with small firing pin would have been a popular base for a custom rifle.

Mouser? Did you get a cat? Didn't know they came in 7mm. Wink

Now a RB in 7mm Mauser is, like you've said, not that uncommon. Pretty heavy cartridge for a mouse. Smiley

Wow! Looks like I got here a little late to see that conversation.  Maybe my search on "Mouser" took me off in another direction.

We didn't shoot hundreds of rounds through either gun but both shot well. We made up handloads with new component and I'm sure we staid at the lower end of the recommend loading. Cases looked just fine.

Armed with this new info, maybe I'll dig it out and read some of the markings on it.
