I almost cried today as a friend brought more boxes of reloading supplies from my buddy who passed away a while back . Straight out of the box , a breech seater 32 - 40 ( we had similar rifles ) .
A few tubs of lube and a Corbin Swage press . Still smile thinking about him .

I have a temporary flare tool using a deep socket in 1/4 drive
slides in without much play . Having a long taper seems to work well for now . I do have a mill & lathe so I may build a breech seater , wondering how long the stroke needs to be
1.5 " ? .

Thanks the replies guys .

Looks to me like you came up with the perfect solution, at least if you don't have to flare each time you reload.  Otherwise, I would go with the Lyman M Die in 32R... that's what I used for years until I messed up and sold my Lyman 32-40 die set that I added it to.  Cry  I'd still like to have that set back!

Thanks for the replies

I found some bullet lube in small butter tubs in my buddy's reloading gear , sort of a mix between crisco and candle wax looks home made .

It seems softer than what is used years ago ,wonder if it will  melt in the hot summers and mix with the powder  , Some of his fixed loads are marked SPG / 22 : 1 L / T  stored nose down in the larger 100 rd ammo case .

The moulds I found are casting .323 almost .324 at the base ,Tapered 200 gr 6 groove . I haven't used any of my old 165 - 170 gr cast bullets . The 200s should work well , my barrel is 1 : 14  .

If he was using SPG lube and 1/22 Tin Lead his bullets were about standard for the 32/40 Schuetzen work.

You can use other formulas and they can work but SPG and about 1/25 will work, leaving you open to experiment with seating depth and powder charges, Next change I make is Tin/Lead at 1/20 Your friend may have been further down the road than me.
