My Lucky Day (James Grant)

So I collect guns and I also collect books on guns and my library is fairly well stocked. I purchased a lot of books off ebay last week and just received them in and was doing intial inventory and inspection. One of the books I had purchased was The British Falling Block Breechloading Rifle from 1865 by Jonathan Kirton. In the front leaf, is the following inscription "To Mr. James J. Grant with very many thanks for your assistance. With best regards, Jonathan Kirton". Kind of exciting to have a book that was owned and read by James Grant!!!!

Hello S.P. Dalcher ---Although your post is from two weeks ago, I am just now finding it with interest.

I, myself, am a bit " bookish " and probably to a fault, at times.  Alternatively, I will have to assert that reading literature sure beats being a T.V. addict and all that being so entails.

Great find for you !  The James J. Grant series, in my opinion, are well researched and documented and one of my primary resources that I go too first for clarification.  The bindings on my Grant series are all well worn.

Best regards,

Some of my Grant books I purchased directly from him and he wrote on the flyleaf.  I'm guessing he did that commonly with the ones he sold directly (?)

I don't know about Grant, but I have one book which is collectable because the author hasn't signed it...

Creedmoormatch,

Thaks for the reply!  I spend as much time reading as I do playing with my toys.  I would rather open a good book than watch TV anyday.  My library is coming along nicely. I am pushing 500 firearms related books so most evenings are kicked back with a good book.

Aonghas,

I'm intrigued. What books is that? What is the story?
