I have picked up a Sharps and I think it is a conversion model but not sure even after looking in Sellers book. Any help here appreciated.

Here is a picture that shows a small hump under the back of the hammer.

I should have added,(the dog needed out)that the serial range for the 74 models roughly falls in the 150,000 to 160,000 range. They started with the "C" at 100,000.

Looking at the triggers, I'd say it is a "Mecham" conversion.  You can tell more by looking at the "Old Reliable" stamping on the barrel and the shape of the forend.  It is detailed in the Sellers book.

you have a conversion, thick lockplate, panel on receiver has a slice in to accomadate the percussion hammer, screw in bottom of lockplate for priming system, meechem conversion usually has english rifling, non matching serial numbers, thicker forarm where it meets the receiver. lockplate will not have the scallops that you will see on the 69s and 74s unless its a factory conversion. good luck with your new toy.

I have Frank Sellers book and to me it looks like a Sharps conversion for Boker. Will not be able to tell 100% until I get it next week.
