Stevens actions...relative size?

I'm curious as to the comparative sizes of the different Stevens actions.  Is the Favorite a lot smaller than a 44?  I have a Favorite and been sort of looking at a few 44 actions on the net with the idea of building a larger caliber rifle.....like 45-70.

Favorites are noticeably smaller then a Model 44 but -No original Stevens action is suitable for a .45-70. The shanks are too small in diameter. If you want something that is like a Stevens you could get a CPA.
The are kind of a big Stevens with a larger shank which will hold a .45-70. Just Google up "CPA single shot"

Stevens quit making the 44 action in any centerfire but 25-20 Single Shot back about 1903-04.  When the Hornet appeared, they tried it again, but a bunch of those loosened up with factory ammo. They make fine 22 rimfires and are marginally OK for the smaller centerfire cartridges (25-20 SS, 32-20, 28-30) as long as you stay with black powder equivalent loads.

The Favorite is your basic .22 Rim fire boys rifle. The 44 is an excellent .22 Rim fire target rifle and  suitable for low pressure black powder center fire calibers that they were originally chambered for. The 44 1/ 2 is the best and strongest Stevens action and is suitable for modern  center fire calibers. As stated, if you want to go to a .45-70 you would have to go to the current CPA version of the Stevens 44 1/2. The CPA is one of the best single shots out there.
