Does anyone have an opinion on McGowen barrels. Their price looks good and I'm looking for a barrel blank for 32-40 cal. to use on a Stevens 44 1/2. Thank you

I had a Mc gowen barrel put on a winchester lo wall action (22 hornet) about 25 yrs ago and it shoots where I point, in my opinion they make a good barrel and I still have the rifle and shoot it at least once a week. Hank45  Smiley

Ordered a 1-in-14" 38cal barrel from them for my Marlin 1895 in 38-56 about 2yr ago. They sent a barrel  marked as 1-in-14", but when measured it was actually 1-in-16". When called to their attention they 'gave' the barrel to me, but was still out ~$400 for the installation. Shoots fine, but can't use the heavier bullets had hoped to use. That said, just ordered a 25cal 1-in-10" barrel from them for my 25-35WCF High Wall build. Will definitely measure the twist before threading for the install.

Glenn - 2x CPA 44 1/2 w/22LR (Shilen ratchet-rifled & Bartlein 5R rifled), 38-40RH & 38-55WCF (Bartlein 5R rifled) & 40-65WCF (GrnMtn 'X') barrels

I used a lot of their barrels when they were in ILL. and they were very good but i believe they're now in Montana and have changed hands so may be different. H12
