Guns International has a 417 1/2 Walnut Hill sporting rifle listed with an 8x Unertl scope for a pretty decent price. Gun is listed as a 417 W.H. .22LR. I have one & have no interest in this gun, just spreading the word to my fellow Stevens "nuts".  ...MIKE...

Stevens can get confusing even when you know them well. It is a 44 action. It is a Walnut Hill Model 417 1/2 Sporting Rifle. There was also a Walnut Hill Model 417 Target Model with a heavier barrel and stock with a barrel band on the front. They all had several sight options. The one for sale is nicer than the one that I have and the scope is probably period correct but Stevens offered the Lyman 438 Field on these as an option I have the Lyman on both of mine. My 417 1/2 in .22 Hornet is that nice. My 417 in .22 Long Rifle is not that nice and I have close to that much in it with sights and scope. I have the correct Lyman 144 rear tang sight and the Lyman 438 Field scope on both of mine. If I was not in the process of re-doing my T-Bird I would consider buying this one. Nice Walnut Hill.

Bob, They're not calling it a 44 1/2, just a 417 which are a lot more common. The pin through the receiver is not only on the 44 but on the later 44 1/2s rimfires also, for the ejector (as on the 1915 Favorite.             ...MIKE...
