Over the past few years I have developed an interest in the old single shot boys rifles. The first one that I bought was a Stevens Favorite 1915 model 27 (octagon barrel 22LR). That little rifle was well worn on the outside but well kept on the inside. I added a repro tang sight and was amazed with how well the rifle shot. I was hooked! Since then I have acquired several Stevens single shots and Remington #4, #6 rolling block 22LRs. They are a ball to shoot and down right a pleasure to handle. I have looked for some time to find a Stevens Little Scout #14 1/2. Have found a bunch of them in mostly poor condition. Up till last Saturday I had never seen one that didn't have a crack grip/tang area in the stock, or a bore that looked like a sewer pipe. While at the Syracuse, NY gun show I was shocked to find one that appears to be in unfired condition! With the exception of a few scratches on the butt stock it looks like it just came out of the box! The bluing is 99.9%, the color case on the action is as well. When I checked the bore with a Hawkeye bore scope It looked like it was rifled yesterday! I took the time to check if the barrel had been religned, but there is not indication that this is the case. I was thrilled to find this little gem in this condition. There is one thing that is a little puzzling to me and I hope someone can shed some light on this for me. On the action there is what appears to me to be the Savage trade mark of SVG in a circle. However the barrel reads the Stevens A&T Co. Would like to hear your thoughts on this. Great find! I have been collecting Stevens for years and finding any boys rifel in pristine condition is tough to do. As I recall Savage bought out Stevens after WWI and started puting the Savage logo on them at that time. Now you need a Little Scout # 14. They are a little harder to find. The fun never ends!

Yup, completely different gun, scarce and not easy to find. Finaly found a decent one within the last year.

Sendero, why not post some pics?  As for me, I can't keep all those Stevens model numbers straight, so pics are a help!!

You did not over pay. I would jump on one that nice for that price. It is hard to pay too much when they are in that condition. I have guns that nice that I have paid what I thought was a lot of money for and have never regreted it. I have some less than excellent guns that I bought cheap that I have regrets about buying. You did well.
