one of the guys on the CB board tipped me off to AccurateMolds.com.  I sent Tom my drawing for my 7.5 bullet he responded within 24 hours with a couple technical questions that I answered and he added the bullet to his on-line catalogue that evening.  I just ordered a double cavity version in iron  (he also does brass and AL) and he's quoting 3 weeks turnaround.

WHAT A CHANGE!!!!!!!

Not only that he makes excellent moulds. The only down side is that he has to put a meplat of at least .180 if you can live with that they are great.

Impossible!
Everyone knows that mold makers can't turn out work in less than 4 months...
If Harry Pope wouldn't quote a lead time, it's impossible... yup.. can't be done...
Grin Grin Grin

Say... one of those designs looks like it might work well in my Snider...

Yeah I forgot to add the "no round or pointy nose bullets" to my post.

A good web site with lots of info and illustrations.

Unfortunately, the .30 Caliber is his minimum size.  Darn, no .25 's !

Guess who was right   ( I know PaulF was joking--though it was sadly "black humor for sure)Well today is the 19th.  I actually first contacted him on the 6th of THIS month in THIS year  It took a few days of emails to discuss the design and send it to him. I entered the order on his website on the 9th.  I actually mailed my PO MO on the 14th.  And the mold arrived this noon in the mail. The PO label says it was shipped from SaltLake City on the 15th.
I'll probably be making bullets tonight  the mold looks beautiful fit and finish is impeccable.  I have absolutely no doubt the bullets will be just as good.  then it'll be up to me to make it work. Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

We are talking well under two weeks from initial contact  until delivery of the finished produce.  this includes design discussions, copy and entry of the design into his catalogue, actual production  and delivery via post office.  I am absolutely stunned, dazed and gob-smacked.   Pleased too.

and I have been given to understand that this is more the norm than not with orders from them.

If you need 30+ cal bullets and can live with flat meplats, You can add'em to your list of potential mold sources.
I have two somewhat similar molds on order for this rifle,  one from Mos---and you all know that story.  The other is from another well regarded mold maker for the CBA crowd, and he says he might get to my order this winter--maybe late fall but he's pretty sure he'll get it made before Spring

Friend of mine just recommended Accurate to me too. Made a custom 38/40 mold for him based on a old Lyman pattern bit heavier bullet crimp grove to suit a lever action.  Whole turn around was a month.

Looking at his site he will make them Iron Brass or Aluminum.  Says his preference is Aluminum. My best casting mold is a base pour double cavity LBT made out of Aluminum

Anybody ever use a brass block ?

I have one its a nice brass custom replica of one of those old nose-pour Lymans with an adjustable base plug that lets you make a longer or shorter bullet.  its a beautiful jewel of a mold.
Its for an old German Swiss break open stalking rifle chambered for a builder/variant on the 11mm BN Mauser.  I had to send a casting to RNC and have cases turned.  I've only cast a few bullets with it but the brass seems to heat up and hold heat better than Iron or AL. Even the first few bullets came out just fine.  Obviously it needs to be handled a mite carefully. The rifle has a slow twist and I figured to use the mould to make lighter "express" bullets for it.

Boats, Just as an aside I have had a couple of my favorite 45-70 molds metal-lifed.  I really like that.  the bullets seem to drop free real easy and of course I don't have to worry much about rust with them

Boats I owned a mould with brass inserts for my 32-40 and it was one of the most user friendly moulds I have ever owned and one did not have to worry as much when handling it compared to a solid brass mould.

I might just try one of his Brass molds, just to see how it works

FWIW:   I just cast up a few bullets from the new mould.   It heated up nicely and even the very first few bullets were well filled out and shootable.  After about half a dozen they looked perfect.  I ran off 40 or 50 and the mold held temp very well.  No need to stop and let it cool down like I have had with some other moulds.  But that may be a function of block mass/mould cavity size and number/ alloy melt temp.   If so the blind pig got lucky again. All bullets dropped free or nearly so from the get-go.  a couple required a little jiggle.

Mold was held in a Cabintree clamping handle adjusted for very light clamp pressure and I wore fireman's gloves so I could open the sprue cutter by hand.  Bases were clean cut and sharp edged.  There was a very very slight burr of flash around the rim of the meplat on one side of one cavity; the other bullet was clean. The flash brushed off with no effort.

I hava not weighed them yet

I'm a happy camper.  'till I start shooting Wink
