I pray that he can rest in peace until such time that we might be able to join him. Thank you Creedmoormatch for acknowledging his passing. I did not have the opportunity in this life to be able to shoot next to him but Lord willing I will be able to do so in the next.

I am so very sad to hear this. Sad  I always really enjoyed his visits here at Etna Green.  He was a knowledgeable and fascinating guy to talk with on many different topics.  He will be greatly missed.

I'll pass the word on tomorrow morning to the shooters already gathered for the Fall Match

from Etna Green ASSRA/ Beeson's range

As it always turned out I shot next to Roy at the Etna Green .22 matches. What an interesting guy and he could shoot that little Stevens as though it had a 2" dia. barrel. It was Roy that got me fired up on finding a Unertl BV20 scope. I was looking forward to talking to Roy about what he used for mounts for his BV20 on his rifle. Looks like I will have to wait a while to get an answer to that question.
Even though Roy did not make all the Etna Green shoots, he was one of the few that would hang around after the last shoot of the year to help put the range in order for winter.
I will miss shooting next to Roy!

Roy had a booth in the local flea market in Edinburg, the town my parents live in and a few short miles from my previous home in woodstock. He sold old shooting items and mining equipment there and was always helping out the people who ran the flea market.
He ran the hunters safety classes in the shenandoah county area for many man years and passed my son, Frank thru one of those classes.
I had many good conversation with Roy and he was a participant at all of the winter gatherings I held, calling me at home and pressing me for info on the dates!!
His stevens mentioned above in the thread, inspired my Favorite with the bull barrel I built. He will be sorely missed by me and many others.
God be his keeper and protector.

Webb,

I just went through my pics of matches and my gatherings and fail to find one decent photo of Roy.

If anyone has one I would be honored and thankful to have a copy.

Good to see you're still alive and posting here!

Any prairie dogs?

Tim,

it has been rough. House fire and we lost our twins Lisa was carrying. But we are getting back on our feet and moving forward.

Was very sad to hear of Roy. It was always nice to run into him in town and at the flea market, places outside of shooting, and know him a little bit beyond the range.

I still have hopes of travels back east to visit and shoot. Just need a few months of catching up after this last several months.

Webb,

thank you for all of the above. BTW, my email is not what it used to be. I will update the one shown in the member profile on this site later today.
