25 caliber molds

I'm trying to locate any business that can make a custom or have in stock a .259 tapered, spitzer mold between .94 and 1.12 long for a 10 twist barrel. Or if anyone has one that they could part with, I'd be interested.

your not going to like the answer but, David Mos makes a 120 grain spitzer that is wonderful. I have been building a 25-20 SS on a 44 1/2 action and had it ready for this years Quarter Bore matches. I set a new Quarter bore 5-shot group record using that bullet through a RKS barrel.

I think that Jim Borton can make a mold for you. See the listings down in the "For Sale" section. Like nearly everything else in this game , there is nothing magical about certain bullet designs or powder or cartridge designs. If you are a good shooter and use your head you will shoot good.

Thanks for your input, guys,
I am aware of the Mos problem and I haven't been able to find anyone that makes a 25 bullet like I want. I'm sorry to say that at this time, I feel like if I try to get a Mos mold, that I will still have the same problem but, less money. If he would deliver a mold to me, I would then pay (as it is in most business transactions) but, I'm not a gambler.

I have several 25 Ideal molds from a cut down 420 to the 418 spitzer but, I'm wanting a mini Ron Long type. I do have molds to shoot. I have a opportunity to sell one of mine and replace it with just what I want.

Thanks again,

Frank

Did you check with Paul Jones? He makes nice spitzer moulds.

Frank,

I have no personal experience with any of the makers mentioned, but over on the Cast Boolits board people frequently talk about small custom mould shops they have used.  I personally would call on Jim Borton first since I know him and have a couple of his moulds, but if he doesn't have what you want, I would check the CB board and get addresses for some of the folks they talk about there.  There is also a "Group Buy" process there where somebody comes up with a design several people want and they get together enough orders to make the price a little more palatable for everyone (as compared to a one-off true custom.)  If you contact my old friend Dale53, perhaps he can give you more info on this process as he has ramrodded a few of them.

Digitall,
Yes, I went to the Paul Jones site first. He only makes a few calibers, the smallest is 32 cal.

Thanks Froggy,
I'm going to contact Jim today. J Lewis also suggest him and sent a list of Jim's molds to me.

I'll snoop around on the CBA forum and see what I can come up with, too. I really didn't think this would be so hard.

Thank you,

Frank

I spoke to paul Jones about a 25 cal mold.  He said he would make it but charge about $300 for the extra trouble and set-up.  Steve Brooks said he could make a mold but his blocks are so big that it would be hard to keep the mold hot.  I just got a NEI mold but have not tried it yet.

I paid for a Mos mold back in January but of course, have not received it.

Frank,

     It's the Cast Boolit Board, not the CBA board of that association.  Try this URL;

I hadn't thought about Fred Leeth, but he would also be a very good one to go to since he is active in the Schuetzen game and will understand what you are trying to do.  Cheesy

Frank,
My NEI mold is a .257 diameter, plain base 85 grain bullet.  The nose has a flat section that my gun seems to like.  I think the bullet is for a lever action gun.
