Does anyone know of anyone making decapping pins for old tong tools? Or does anyone know where to get the dimensions for the pins?

wcf3840,

If all you're needing is round stock for pins, give one of the bigger steel suppliers a call. The good ones carry a large assortment of 3 foot long drill rod stock in both fractional and decimal sizes, so you should be able to get what you need.

And take your micrometer with you just to check the diameters - they often get some of the sizes mixed up in adjoining storage bins.

There are three kinds of men: The ones that learn by reading, the few who learn by observation, and the rest who have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.

Ballards may be weaker,

I've used piano wire for many of my old loading tool decapping pins. I always have a stock of it in the shop for various uses and it works great for that application.
