I was browsing through old posts tonight. For sale only goes back a short time. Everything else seems to go back to May - July of 2004. Are they ever deleted or do they stay here forever? I would hope they are never deleted because there is a lot of good info there. I am considering going back through them all and printing out everything I can find that is Stevens related for my own reference library. So what is the policy on retaing the old stuff here?

That is another problem that needs to be addressed. Have e to manualy go through them to find what you are looking for.

So what is the answer to the original question? Also what is the date this website started up?

Thats what I was looking for. Now why didn't I think of that? Apparently April of 2004 was the start up date and there are posts from that far back. Now my next question is will posts be saved for reference for ever or will they eventualy be deleted? I am hoping not because ther is a heck of a lot of good information there if you take the time to look for it. You could probably write a book on ever make of single shot we talk about here from these archives.

I am not a moderator, nor do I play one on television, but I do know a few things about how the website works. 
1.)  The site lives on server space that is donated. 
2.)  Both the moderators and the Technician (Note that's singular) are volunteers and unpaid. 
3.)  Server capacity is finite.
Given these 3 limiting factors it seems obvious to me that one of two things has to happen. The first is that someone is going to have to go through all the drivel and pontificating and make a value judgement as to what is valuable information and what is not and edit out the chaff so as to have space for new material. Or the second option is more server space is acquired. That means money. I know that this is a sore subject, especially with the freeloaders that don't support the organisation that sponsors the site, but that is the truth. The server space has a limit just like the Federal budget and we see where 80 years of handing out what we don't have has gotten us there. Unlike the Feds we don't have the luxury of legislating an alternate reality. Instead of wondering why my shameless directions to my fleabay auction of a gun part of dubious parentage has been dropped. I would love to see some people step up and volunteer or maybe make a gift for the upkeep of the site. That would be helpful as opposed to why is my welfare check late mentality.
