It's common for Smallbore Prone Shooters to change front sight height when moving from 50 to 100 yards instead of clicking the change on the rear sight.

Head position remains the same and less chance of error in the rear if you always work around very similar sight settings. My Anschutz 54 Super Match was set up this way, two step front sight base.

As far as what it's worth.  Well if not shooting 50 & 100 no need to have one. Seems a complicated solution compared to moving the front to a different height base step. However for sure somebody collects things like this however obscure.

Boats, Womack was out of Shreveport Louisiana, I agree with the advantages you listed for these and the two step base. That is what I always used (2 step). I recently got one (in the box even) of the Womacks on a rifle and trying to decide what to do with it. I remember the older shooters from the 70's and before had them or talked about how good they were. I don't think I will shoot smallbore prone matches anymore so I don't think I will use it. Thanks
