short cases and breach seating

Hi,

In a rifle chambered for .38-55 for use with the original length (long) cases, is there any reason why the newer style short cases could not be used if the bullet was breach seated?

It would seem to me that it wouldn't matter, but that could be because I know very little of breach seating  Grin

thanks,

Chris.

You are right, IMO there is no difference, the shorter case will shoot just as good as the longer one, all your doing is increasing the size of the boiler-room a very small amount.   ledball

I've used 30 American (30/30) cases in my 32/40's for years and see no difference in how it shoots.

Same with me use WW's from a lot of 500 purchased 18 years ago when the  CPA rifle was new. Before "long" cases were available that's all we had.

long is just a way to sell something, bullet does not know the difference
