Interest in SIngle Shot SHooters Gathering in KC?

Now that I have relocated my rear to the KC area, I am wondering about doing here what I was doing in VA. That is, is there any interest in a gathering of some of us single shot shooters in the KS/MO/IA/NE and where ever else, for me to try to organize such an event here?

It is a great chance for us to see each others smiling, or in some cases, sour faces! We can bring projects, bragging pieces, questions and what ever else keeps us talking and exchanging ideas and phone numbers.

I know of a shooting range in MO, just over the KS/MO border and across the Missouri river that has a room they rent for 20 and hour. I think we could take a collection and cover that and the cost of some pizza's or something.

Please let me know if there is interest in this. I was very sorry to have to abandoned the meet in VA because of my moving. But have hopes some of the great guys there will find a way to continue that meeting. And I see a chance to do the same thing here.

Please let me know your thoughts. I will spear head the effort if there is interest. Who knows, perhaps we could eventually double it up with a match at the range. Still early to say, but is a thought!

This I think, Jon, would  be stretching a days journey for even me. If I could I would. Good luck on your new digs.

Keep moving MB! You're getting closer! Only 1500 miles away now, instead of 3,000! Smiley

    Jon ;

   I was disappointed to read that you have left the fine state of Virginia, but I see it as Virginia's loss, and Kansas' gain.

   We will certainly miss not seeing you at the Columbia Schuetzenvein , a/k/a , Thurmont, Maryland , this year; but do realize that life goes on and the road does include twists and turns.

   If you should get "back East" anytime soon, you know the Columbia schedule and the road to get to Thurmont, so please  do stop in.

   I hope the Volvo enjoys being on flat land instead of the hills of Virginia.  I'll be passing through K.C. on the way to Colorado next September, so who knows, you just may answer the phone at 1:00 A.M.

   Your friend,    Smiley

Webb,

The move was a tough decision for sure. And high on the things I will miss is my shooting friends and matches. I have been extremely fortunate to have made the friends I have on the east coast. I was taken in by a great bunch of guys and shown the ropes and have learned more than one could ever read in any book from everyone.

But I believe that in the shooting/collecting community the camaraderie may be the same no matter where in the country you are if you are around like minded folks.

I know that where I was being able to watch Hoyt rifle a barrel, hang out in Mr. Bly's basement and talking maynards, Drinking cheap beer and tobasco with Mr. Christensen, Shooting next to our once president as he shoots a perfect 250, sitting around in the evenings with Mr. Frog hearing tales of his doings with Mr. Dell, looking over all of the wares custom made by all of the fine shooters and machinists, all of that is irreplaceable. BUT, I am certain that similar folks and talents abound!

Webb, I am about two minutes off of I-70. If you can make time PLEASE DO!! Also, I believe Chris goes on an annual pheasant hunt in NE. hmmmmmm.......
