You may well be right. But I refuse to give up my optimism.
And, of course, a conference call with more than 3 or 4 on it is not functional.
C W,
I'm involved with two different associations, I'm one of 12 BOD members in one association, and one of 5 members on a ethics committee in an another association.
We do conference call meetings all the time, both association meetings are recorded and both have good moderators, no one gets out of line, questions are put to the board and are usually answered or commented on individually by each board member, open voting is done and everything is done in an orderly open manner.
Other than around the holiday season we always have a very good turn out most months. The last time I checked I think ASSRA only had 8 or 9 listed as BOD's, hard to believe they cant get enough members together at one time to have a good conference call meeting, it's not like they have to drive in bad weather to make a meeting.
Hope I don't get deleted, banned, or tarred and feathered for saying this but here goes. Maybe one of the first things that has to be done to make ASSRA membership grow would be to get members on the board that care enough about ASSRA to attend the meetings. Maybe set up a membership drive and offer some kind of incentive to get shooters to join.
A lot can be gained by looking at how other National Associations work and grow, if ASSRA officials want ASSRA to grow, it could be that the BOD we have now are very comfortable they way things are going, some may think that more members only means more problems ?.
Don't know if the ASSRA meetings are recorded or not, if not they should be if for no other reason than to check later on to see just what was said and how it was said.
