Hey guys
Anyone here ever use the chat room for this site? Good place to discuss issues. All you have to do is pick a time. Another of the less used perks of this site.

I, as a rule, never use them as the written record of what's said is valuable.
HOWEVER, it could become a valuable channel for a once-a-(week/month) discusion with or between BOD members. (Did we not just hear a complaint about not having a good method of communication among them?)
So, how do you get to the chat room?

CW,
The BOD uses a phone conversation for it's meetings.

Thanks. My comment was to be helpful as it seems that many BOD members have said that they'd do whatever they could, BUT it seems that management, let alone leadership, has been - ah - less than visible. (Your comment is an exception, therefore, thanks!)

I used to get on nightly and I learned a life times worth of information on how to become a better shooter by those who this site was originally created for but unfortunately they have opted out of any discussions due to those individuals who chose to challenge their time proven abilities and knowledge yet don't have a clue on what it takes to get there yet they try to provide their self centered inability's and unproven knowledge while providing false information to those poor individuals who are eager to learn and don't know any better.
Now one of those individuals would like to turn the chat room into a pissing match meeting place to bitch about the board of directors so there you go to hell with how to become a more proficient shooter and what it takes for one to get there and onward to a proposed place of more misery, miss information and worthlessness.

J. Louis,
I don't think you will have to worry about Tom ( screwloosetc )
as I believe he told some to put it where the sun don't shine, if he did not go on his own he may have been banned, I know a few were banned in the past for saying the same thing.
I think C W has a good idea as to having a Member and BOD get together maybe on the chat section of the forum. I know your main interest is shooting, but please don't forget, some dues paying members are just as interested in the workings of the ASSRA just as much as your interested in shooting.
I bet that over 95 % of ASSRA members will never get to E G for a meeting, so It would be nice if they could express there opinions and ideas with BOD members.
Only problem I see with it is that I and some others have never been able to get the chat section of the forum to work.

As far as I know only the BOD can ban someone from the forum. That has only happened once to three people. The vote was not unanimous in fact it was very close. Some directors like others have thinner skins than others. When things get too personal it does not make for much fun. Being blamed for things that were not done on your watch didn't help either. I do not use the chat room and don't respond on the forum often. I am sometimes a bit (my wife says always) sarcastic so I try to keep out of the discussions that get personal. Having a chat with the whole BOD would not be easy as we have a hard enough time getting all together for our regular meetings.

I wholeheartedly agree with you on values - especially two - that which WE learn here and of the repulsiveness of the pissing contests.
To set aside, perhaps an hour a month, for BOD issues on the chat room would give much visibility. Have not there been lots of comments on their lack of attention to issues (deserved or not).
The conference phone calls would make a great closed-session following.
I'm not trying to dictate here, but I see issues being raised and there are solutions, so I'm tossing out ideas for consideration.
And I strongly suggest better moderation of the forum be done. That CAN stop the pissing contests EARLY in the game. It shouldn't be a committee decision to halt a pissing contest 150 posts into the thread!

Contact information for every member of the board is given in each and every issue of the SSRJ.
Contact info is also given at the ASSRA home page of this web site.
Contact info is given for every member of this forum by clicking on the name of said forum member.
When contacting a board member it is a good idea to include your ASSRA membership status, it is included on every ASSRA Members card.
Any input or questions can be handled in the above manor.

OK, I figured it out, maybe.
Going to the ASSRA HomePage (in white at the top of the page) there are instructions on how to load: To use the ASSRA Chat, you may need to download and install an IRC chat client.
I'll do that tonight.

Tom,
Good to see you did not leave and that you didn't get bounced.
I don't do PM's very well and also don't hide my feelings very well. As far as you posting here, post away, I'm sure if some don't like what you post it well get deleted.

C W,
It still doesn't work for me, but I'm no computer wizard. As to downloading and installing another program on this old antique computer of mine such as an IRC chat client, what ever that is, no way, I'll pass on it , why bother.
I don't think the BOD will ever have an on line meeting with the general membership once a month or even once a year.
Like falling block said, The BOD uses the phone for it's meetings. and having a chat with the whole BOD on line would not be easy as they have a hard enough time getting all together for the regular meetings.
It's just not going to happen.
