First this website was started by the ASSRA to give shooters a place to find out more about the single shot game. Secondly it is used as a tool to bring in new members. As such we have been both successful and unsuccessful. Right now we get most of our new memberships from this site.

40_Rod,

Do you happen to have a breakdown of membership by age group available? I'm curious to know which age bracket(s) the majority of the new memberships fall into.

Thanks,
BP

No I do not have an age breakdown. The last time it was measured I believe it was around 65. I suspect that it has always been about the same. Shooting old single shots is something that you seem to come to later in life.

Glad to be one of the youngsters - at 63.   Cheesy

40_Rod,

I pretty much suspected that, but its always good to get confirmation.

Thanks for the reply.

I was at the Conestoga Gun Club shoot in PA today and I think that at age 57 I was one of the three youngest out of about 20.  Several were a lot older than 65, for sure.

Cat Whisperer, if you're a youngster at 63 then I must not have been born yet at 27.  The old guns and the new ones just appeal to me for some strange reason.

Old is an attitude.  I still like the 'oldtimer' remarks: The oldtimer firning the .45-70 was asked by the youngster if it didn't hurt a lot.  He remarked, Sonny, at my age it ALL hurts - so no big deal.

I knew for YEARS that I'd never live long enough to see 21.  Shocked  Somehow, by God's grace, I'm still here.  I have a number of friends that will be forever 21 - thanks to VN.

The old guns are cool - some FINE workmanship and fine marksmanship with really old and simple equipment - not the instant, nor I want it NOW, or 'replicated' items - but hand made with care AND precision.  Works of art.
